"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty."

-George Washington, Fairwell address circe 1796

"I know that George had a habit for using big words, so allow me to translate into 2008 English: Political parties that put their own success over that of the country's will be the death of America. " - Glenn Beck

I might not be the biggest fan of Beck... but... I am a fan of George Washington

I've had a rant going for several months.. hell years... but I'm loath to post it.

I happened to have voted for Bush, where as my reasons were my own, I didn't get what I voted for (much like most everyone else that voted for Bush who is an intelligent individual... we was duped)

But now, I'm so sick and tired of the Partisanship that I could vomit.

The "Obama is the next coming of jesus and he's so cool and awesome" democrats who never go out to fucking vote anyway

VS

The "Mavericks" if I hear that fucking word one more time and someone isn't talking about basketball or westerns I might actually have to bludgeon someone to death with my cock

We are fucked either way we go, like the article said, doesn't matter who's president at this point, we're heading int he same direction either way

makes me ill

I know. I know. I'm a Democrat (actually, we consider ourselves SLIGHTLY more moderate than that... kind of in the Libertarian area but I digress...)

I'm guilty of ripping on Republicans too. But it's mainly because of a frustration with a lack of common sense. And them insulting me for questioning things, like our president, the war, etc. When I feel that questioning things does not make one a traitor, it's actually quite patriotic.

Yeah, I think we're fucked either way. But we'll be even MORE fucked if we get McCain/Palin in the White House. I like Obama but I don't get why he's a magic man; I don't see that like some people do. I just want someone who has some compassion and common sense. McCain doesn't bother me as much as Palin. Palin... grrrr. She's not that smart AND she's divisive. She will further drive a partisan wedge through the U.S. Scary.

I remember the day when I didn't know what the hell political party my friends were, nor did we care. Sigh.
